On June 20, 2019, the Ministry of Interior and Public Security, through Decree N°237, “Established the need of a Consular Tourist Visa for Venezuelan nationals”, indicating that as of June 22, 2019, citizens of Venezuela who wish to travel to Chile for tourist purposes, will require a consular tourist visa to be requested before the corresponding Chilean consulates abroad, prior entry to Chile.

The Decree has an exclusive article, which states:

“To be established as a requirement for entry to Chile for recreational, sports, religious or similar others, the request of a consular tourist visa with right of entry and stay in Chile in such status, for a maximum period of 90 days, for all Venezuelan nationals who wish to enter the country, without purpose of immigrating, residing or carrying out remunerated activities.”

It is recommended to directly contact the corresponding Chilean consulate in order to verify the required documents and timings in order to obtain a tourist visa.

Finally, Venezuelan nationals may still obtain a Democratic Responsibility Visa through any Chilean Consulate abroad.
