On May 28, 2025, the National Institute of Standardization (INN) published the new Chilean Standard NCh 2369:2025 on the seismic design of industrial structures and facilities, marking a significant milestone in structural safety for this type of infrastructure.
The updated standard incorporates more demanding international criteria and replaces the previous version (NCh 2369:2023). However, it has not yet entered into force: for it to become legally binding, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MINVU) must approve its content and issue a supreme decree.
As of now, no information has been provided regarding a potential grace period for its application once officially enacted.
