Ministry of Health of Chile establishes that any person entering from abroad may be selected a PCR test

On December 7, 2020, Exempt Resolution No. 1,055 of the Ministry of Health was published, which "modifies exent resolution No. 997 of 2020, of the Ministry of Health", and provides the following:

  • Any person who enters from abroad, regardless of their nationality, place of origin or destination region in Chile, may be randomly selected by the Health Authority at the time of entry, to submit to a direct detection test for SARS-CoV-2 determined by the Health Authority.
  • If a Chilean or foreigner regularly residing in the country does not agree to take the exam referred to in this section, he must remain in quarantine for 14 days after entering the country, regardless of the negative result that a PCR for SARS-CoV-2 test may be taken either before or after.
  • In the event that a foreigner who is not a regular resident in the country refuses to take the aforementioned exam, the provisions of the Sanitary Code or the International Sanitary Regulations will be applied.

The foregoing, in view of the fact that the epidemiological situation of the Covid-19 outbreak is in full development, so it is necessary to update, the sanitary measures that are available to control the emergency described.
