November 12, 2020

On November 13th, Decree No. 500, of 2020, was published on the Chilean Official Gazette. The document modifies Decree No. 102, of 2020, which provides for the temporary closure of places enabled for the entry and exit of foreigners, due to Public Health Emergency of International Importance due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus (2019 -NCOV) and which extends its validity.

That, according to the evolution that the pandemic has undergone, it is required to modify the first article of Supreme Decree No. 102, already referred to, regarding the authorization of a place for the transit of foreigners to national territory, it has been established that as of 00:00 hours on November 23, 2020, as a place enabled for the transit of foreigners to the national territory, the Arturo Merino Benítez Airport (SCL). The rest of the places enabled for the transit of foreigners to the national territory will remain closed.

In any case, the entry of people into Chilean territory, whether nationals or foreigners, must be carried out in compliance with current health regulations. Therefore, those who have a negative result of a PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 will not be obliged to keep quarantine for 14 days. If the test has been carried out abroad, it must not be older than 72 hours from the moment of entry to Chile. The test carried out abroad must be carried out by a laboratory recognized by the health authority of that country.

Finally, given the current context, it has been deemed pertinent to extend again the period originally contemplated for the closure of places authorized for the entry and exit of foreigners, in order to reduce the spread of Covid-19 among the country's inhabitants to the minimum possible for 15 more days, that is, until November 22, 2020.
