Carey strengthens its Antitrust and Regulated Markets team

Carey, Chile's largest law firm, announced that it has strengthened its Antitrust and Regulated Markets team, led by partners Lorena Pavic and José Pardo, with the addition of María José Henríquez as Senior Counsel.

María José earned her law degree from Universidad de Chile and holds an LL.M. in Trade Regulation and Antitrust from New York University (NYU) School of Law, as well as a diploma in Regulation and Competition from Universidad de Chile. She has extensive experience in antitrust law, complex litigation, and merger control. Between 2012 and 2016, she served as Head of the Anti-Cartels Division of Chile’s National Economic Prosecutor's Office (FNE), where she had previously practiced as an attorney. Since 2016, she led the antitrust practice at Morales y Besa. From 2005 to 2008, she was an associate at Carey, specializing in antitrust matters.

María José’s incorporation is part of Carey's strategy to expand and strengthen a key area amid increasing regulatory complexity and the growing relevance of legal considerations in business decision-making.

Carey has one of the most highly regarded Antitrust and Regulated Markets practices in Chile and is consistently recognized as a leading firm in the field. The area is ranked Band 1 by both Chambers and Legal 500.

Carey's Antitrust and Regulated Markets team has participated in some of the country's most significant litigation cases, including contentious and non-contentious proceedings before the Competition Court (TDLC) and the Supreme Court. The team also has a strong track record in both domestic and multi-jurisdictional mergers.

Carey further advises companies on compliance programs and internal antitrust and regulatory audits aimed at identifying potential issues and risks.
