US investor Coplay Equity Partners has hired Carey in Santiago to acquire Canadian power and automation solutions provider Magna IV Engineering, giving it assets in Chile.

Bennett Jones in Edmonton and Cariola, Díez, Pérez-Cotapos in Santiago advised Magna IV.

Perkins Coie in New York, Denver and Chicago and Stikeman Elliott LLP in Vancouver are also thought to have advised the buyer, but Latin Lawyer could not confirm this prior to publishing.

The deal makes Coplay Equity Partners the sole owner of the Canadian company. The deal closed on 5 March, with no value was disclosed.

Magna IV was founded in Edmonton in 1982 and focuses on electrical engineering and technical field services. The company has some 250 workers in Canada, Chile and the US. Its annual revenue is estimated to some US$43 million.

With a presence in Boston and Denver, Coplay Equity Partners invests in private low-to-middle market companies with significant growth prospects.
