Diego Peralta is a partner and co-head of Carey y Cía.’s Banking and Financial Group. His practice main focus is the creation and structuring of financing for all kinds of businesses, both from the banking perspective as well as from the company´s side, either locally or internationally, as well as purchases and sales of companies and the issuance of debt and equity securities either in Chile or elsewhere.

Since 1985 and before joining Carey y Cía. in 1996, Mr. Peralta was the General Counsel for Citicorp and Citibank in Chile. Before assuming these positions, he was in private practice since 1975, and a Legal Assistant in the Chilean Contraloría General de la República, since 1972. He is a member of the Chilean Bar Association and member of the Executive Committee and of the Council of the Inter American Bar Association.

He is also a member of the Arbitration Body of the CAM Santiago (Center for the Arbitration and Mediation of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce).

He has taught in a number of seminars organized by Citibank in Chile or elsewhere in the Americas and in conferences and seminars organized by Chilean universities and the Chilean Bar Association, among others.

Mr. Peralta studied law at the Universidad de Chile School of Law and was admitted to the Bar in 1975.

He is fluent in Spanish and English.
