Guillermo Acuña is a partner of Carey y Cía.’s Corporate / Mergers & Acquisitions Group, focusing his practice on corporate and commercial law, national and international corporate financing and foreign investment.

In 2005 and 2006, he worked as an international associate with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, New York. He has acted as Professor of Civil Law at the Universidad de los Andes School of Law,  Professor of Introduction to Law at the Universidad del Desarrollo School of Business and Economics (2001) and Assistant Professor of Civil Law at the Universidad de Valparaíso School of Law (1996-1998).

He is the author of “The International Contract: problems related to its negotiation and conclusion” included in the Law of Contracts. Studies about current issues, Universidad de los Andes, Cuadernos de Extensión Jurídica 6, Santiago (2002) and Studies about International Contracts. Uniform Regime and Private International Law, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia (2004). Additionally, he was co-editor of the first publication. He is also the author of "Extinction and Liquidation of Individual Limited Liability Enterprises. Succession Issues" published in Individual Limited Liability Enterprises. New legal regime of business organization, Universidad de los Andes, Cuadernos de Extensión Jurídica 8, Santiago, Chile (2004).

In 2010, he was recognized by the Client Choice Guide as the Best Individual Lawyer in General Corporate in Chile.

Mr. Acuña studied law at the Universidad de Valparaíso, where he was recognized as Best Bachelor (1996) and Best Student in Civil and Commercial Law and in Procedural Law. In 1999, he was admitted to the Bar. In 2000, he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.

He is fluent in Spanish and English.
