Carey and Shearman in Banco de Chile debt placement

Banco de Chile has issued notes worth 5 billion Japanese yen (US$49 million) with counsel from Carey in Santiago and Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York.

The transaction closed on 12 May. Diego Peralta, who led the team at Carey, says the Japanese placement is part of Banco de Chile’s strategy to diversify its funding sources. Over the past year, the bank has made a series of transactions to further this objective, including its sixth bond issuance in Switzerland last month.
